    The most reliable Land Rover ever in the US. The rest of the world has a lot more reliable diesel Land Rovers, like the Series, Defenders, Disco 1 and 2 and the old Classic Range Rovers with the diesel engines. I do own a Discovery 3 with the 4.4 V8 made for the European market though, lovely vehicle!

    • @Lucky8
      @Lucky8 3 дня назад

      I'm not a fan of the Lamb's device. The bags can only inflate so much before the car becomes undrivable. With our lift rods and our SYA kit, the car rides soft, as shown in the video. Plus it is still usable at off-road height. Anything more makes it too bouncy, like a pogo stick.

    2 years into enjoying my 2022 Defender 110 TReK Edition (#24/70) I have sometimes wished for bigger tires (32"), higher lift (1.5"), and better off-roading skills - but never have I needed more power or torque than the 4-cylinder P300 provides for my fully loaded Defender on any trail, nor would I trade my 18" steelies for the V8 or 6-cylinder engine.

    • @Lucky8
      @Lucky8 7 дней назад

      Thanks for your comment, and congratulations on your Trek! I hear and respect what you're saying. The P300 definitely gets the job done; I’ve been on the trails with many of them over the last few years, but you can tell they're pushing hard on that pedal. On the other hand, the 18-inch wheels are a great trade-off and a nice option without needing a caliper swap. I think I'm just too spoiled after driving so many miles in the P400 and P500..

    When I purchased my LR4 it already had this tire carrier installed. It has always been pretty difficult to open and close the carrier, but I assumed that was how it was designed. It has been getting more and more difficult and now it takes pretty much all my weight to open or close it. I watched your video and you mentioned a bolt that goes up into the carrier from under the bumper into the cylinder that goes into the bumper. I also see that the one you installed opens with just the gas strut and is easy to close. When I look at mine I do not see a bolt in there, so I think it must be missing. So a couple of questions: 1) should I be worried about that bolt not being in there? 2) any idea why it is so hard to open an close and any idea how to fix it?

    • @Lucky8

I bought the lift rods from you for my LR3 and they work perfectly. I recently learned some people just use the GAP tool to re-calibrate the suspension to the new height they want. If you haven't already, could you share your thoughts on the benefits of using the lift rods vs. height calibration in the GAP tool? Obviously you prefer the rods 'cause that's what you chose. Just looking to understand why they're a better choice. Thanks and keep the 405 content coming. I'm all in!

    The best way to install any wheel spacer is to carefully unpack them, throw them in the rubbish and buy rims with the correct offset.

    • @Lucky8
      @Lucky8 Месяц назад

      As someone with actual experience across multiple Land Rover products, wanting to run wider 12.5-inch tires, finding the proper offset rim in a Land Rover bolt pattern is nearly impossible. Some models require an offset wheel and wheel spacers to run wider tires. I had to do this on my classic Defender and Discovery models (1 and 2) to keep them off the front radius arm. The same was necessary for the Discovery 3 and 4 due to interference with the upper control arm. The Discovery 5 didn't require spacers but did need an offset wheel. On the next-generation Defender, a proper offset wheel allows for wider tires. Making a custom wheel for a $3,000 off-roader like a Disco 3 (LR3) seems impractical. I'll happily use wheel spacers unless you can point me in the direction of a custom set of wheels for $240.

    • @Brandon_Rivera
      @Brandon_Rivera Месяц назад

      If one were calculating the fitment of this comment to the same rubbish bin, the your offset is perfect. At least the click and view counts for something positive.

    Thanks for the video. I have been running 275/65/20 (34.2”) Toyo Open Country RT Trails on my D-90 for some time. A little trimming on the front bumper, (roughly an 1”) and no trimming on the rear. Had to remove an aluminum bracket and plate behind the fender liner to resolve some minor rubbing. I was able to keep my classic mudflaps in place by trimming them a little. I did not have to relocate the radiators but did have to trim the bracket they are in. The fit is close on full compression so may relocate radiators later due that. It took me forever to figure out the geometry on the wheel and tire set up to get the perfect fit. I have 2012 RR Sport wheels 9” wide, not sure on the offset. Put tire on trim a little, rinse and repeat until satisfied. End result looks stock and quite aggressive. For those wondering I used 1.5” lift rods, 25mm Spacer(will vary depending on wheel selection), 20” x 9” wheel, 275/65/20 Toyo RT Trails. Trim a little at a time and take your time. Don’t cut more than you need too and the fender liner can be manipulated with a little heat, and repositioned with a few new holes to look stock.

    • @Lucky8
      @Lucky8 Месяц назад

      Thank you very much for that reply. I completely agree with your method: put the tire on, mark the bumper, take the tire off, trim the bumper, put the tire back on, and repeat until it's perfect. It takes a while, but that's the best way I've found to do it.
